FAQ

Why do you have books published under two names?

Because I have books published in two different genres of fiction – Young Adult/Adult Crossover fiction for the general market and contemporary fiction for the Christian market. While many readers who enjoy my Christian fiction also enjoy my YA Fiction, I want to be clear that readers should expect different things from both.

What can I expect when I read one of your K.E. Ganshert novels?

When you pick up one of my YA/Adult Crossover titles, expect fast-paced, immersive fun! While they might slot themselves into slightly different genres (fantasy, paranormal, dystopian, etc), each story is filled with adventure, danger, romance, exciting twists, and at least one element that lends itself to the fantastical. These are general market books, so you won’t find a faith journey.

What can I expect when I read one of your Katie Ganshert novels?

When you pick up one of my contemporary titles, you can expect stories about flawed characters wrestling with matters of life, love, and faith. RT magazine called my contemporary work exquisite and emotionally charged. So if that’s your flavor of fiction, I hope you give it a try!

I love your contemporary fiction. Will you be writing more?

At the moment and for the foreseeable future, I am focusing on YA/Adult Crossover fiction. If this changes, I will certainly notify fans via email. Make sure to subscribe to my email list if you haven’t already! The sign-up is at the bottom of the page.

What is YA/Adult Crossover Fiction?

YA stands for Young Adult, a funny term in the publishing industry as the target audience is 12 – 18 years of age. AKA, teens. I find this funny because, well, teens are teens. They aren’t yet adults, not even young ones. Alas, this is the way the industry has defined YA since its inception in the 1960s. My K.E. Ganshert novels feature main characters who are teens. They are written with the fast-paced energy of Young Adult fiction but with the depth and complexity that captivates mature readers, which means these stories aren’t just for teens. Many adults enjoy them, too. If you love page-turning reads you can comfortably share with your teenager, these novels are for you.

What is the reading order of your K.E. Ganshert books?

Follow this page for the reading order or download a printable booklist with checkboxes to keep track of which ones you have read.

What is the appropriate reading age for these books?

Overall, K.E. Ganshert books are clean. The language is PG. The themes and content lean more toward PG-13. There is no sex. However, there is romance, along with the accompanying emotions and feelings that come with romance. There is also darkness on the page. For younger readers (12 and below), I recommend a parent/guardian read first and use their best judgment.

Do you provide trigger warnings for your readers?

Yes, I do. In fact, you can find trigger warnings for all of my books on my Trigger Warning page.

Do you have any new books releasing soon?

Yes, I do! To stay up to date on new releases, freebies, and discounts, subscribe to my email list (scroll to the bottom of the page) and you will be the first to know!

I’m reading one of your Katie Ganshert books in my book club. Do you have any resources?

Why yes, I most certainly do. You can find discussion questions on my Book Club page. These discussion questions are for my contemporary titles. I don’t currently have them for my K.E. Ganshert books.

Why is your online store inactive?

Unfortunately, the overhead cost of running a Shopify store was too steep. However, I really love the simple layout of this site, so I opted to make the store inactive as opposed to completely deleting it. Someday, if I decide to turn this back into a store, I won’t have to start from scratch.

Where can I purchase your books?

All K.E. Ganshert books can be purchased on Amazon. Each one is available in ebook, paperback, audio, and Kindle Unlimited. The ebooks and several audiobooks are also available in online library databases, although you may have to request copies in your particular area.

What was your favorite book growing up?

Hands down, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. It was the first book that swept me up and transported me into a different world. I absolutely could not put it down. I have so much nostalgia for this book that when I taught 5th grade, I read it to my students each year. The story has so much word play and symbolism that went over my head as a kid, but I can appreciate now as an adult. Plus, the message is beautiful. Don’t let the old-fashioned cover scare you off. It’s such a fun book.

When did you start writing?

In third grade I wrote this epic, life-changing story about Mr. and Mrs. Leaf. It was so epic and life-changing, my 3rd grade teacher read it out loud to the class. (It wasn’t actually epic or life-changing but it was good enough to read out loud.) A love-affair was born. I found something I could do well. From there on out, I wrote all kinds of stories and bless my dear parents, they listened as I read every single one of them out loud (sometimes with an accent).
